Liverpool vs Chelsea
English League Cup
Date: Wednesday, 26 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Anfield (Liverpool).
Liverpool and Chelsea are to lock horns two times in just four days as the League Cup draw has been cruel towards them, joining them up for the mouth-watering third round clash at Anfield. Even though both Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri will certainly make plenty of rotations for this cup tie, Premier League clash being much more important for both managers, the Anfield affair will definitely be the one to watch at this stage of the competitions.
Both teams got off to a splendid kick off to the new league campaign. The hosts are now the only team with a perfect record after six rounds in the top flight after Chelsea failed to break the deadlock past West Ham’s stern defensive line in London derby on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds, on the other side, had no troubles storming past Southampton 3-0 in front of the home crows as the star man Mohamed Salah got his name on the scoreboard.
This clash should be different to those played between these two sides over the past couple of years, Maurizio Sarri has completely changed Chelsea’s mentality and football philosophy since taking over Antonio Conte on the bench.
The attacking-minded approach brought the Blues five wins and a draw in six opening Premier League games, including an impressive 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the second round of the competition.
The Reds, on the other side, did well in the final third bagging eight goals in last three games. The streak includes clashes against the likes of Tottenham (1-2) and PSG (3-2), meaning Chelsea’s defense will be on a massive test here.
