Lyon vs Manchester City
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 27 November 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Groupama Stadium (Lyon).
Manchester City continued to shine on Saturday afternoon when they stormed past West Ham United 0-4 at London Stadium. It was the eighth consecutive victory for Pep Guardiola’s machinery who are looking to secure the top spot in Group E with a victory over Lyon on Tuesday night at Groupama Stadium
The visitors will be highly motivated to get the revenge for the opening round loss to Les Gones at Etihad Stadium. Nevertheless, such defeat did little to harm the Citizens who went on to win three on the spin and take the first place in the group.
The hosts were far less impressive in their respective ties against Hoffenheim and Shakhtar Donetsk. They had a fantastic chance to secure the last 16 round progress with a victory over Die Kraichgauer three weeks ago at Groupama Stadium. Lyon had an extra and a two-goal cushion on the occasion, but Nagelsmann’s men managed to get back on level terms and snatch a highly-important point which left them three points shy of Lyon ahead of final two games of the campaign.
The hosts will also enter this high on confidence. They are unbeaten in last seven matches in all competitions. Les Gones climbed up to the second place in the Ligue 1 ladder after back-to-back wins over Guingamp and Saint-Etienne.
There are concerns about Nabil Fekir’s physical condition, but Lyon’s playmaker should be fit to make the starting line-up here. Given both sides have been enjoying a thrilling attacking form of late, we should really see goals when they come across each other in the fifth round. Man City remain massive favourites because of their superb form in recent months.
