Manchester City vs Southampton
English Premier League
Date: Sunday, 4th November 2018
Kick-off at 15:00 UK/ 16:00 CET
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester).
Manchester City returns to Premier League action on Sunday as they host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium. This is after their Carabao Cup fixture against Fulham where they thrashed them 2 goals to nil. The Citizens have not tasted loss this season and are leading the league with 26 points. They remain the highest scoring team in the Premier League.
Manchester City have been in dire form and have won just twice in 22 subsequent Premiership matches. Their last match was seemingly a hard fixture against Tottenham but they thrashed the Spurs with only one goal. They will come into this home game with the aim of continuing their unbeaten run in their campaign to lift the league title at the end of the season.
Kyler Walker, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Rihad Mahrez and Sergio Aguero were among those to start on the bench on Thursday in the EFL Cup clash with Fulham. Additionally, David Silva was left out completely. We should see them feature in this home game on Sunday.
The Saints failed to convert most of their chances to goals in their last EPL fixture at home against Newcastle last weekend. They are just 2 points from the relegation zone and may not get the chance to add some point to their tally in this matchup.
Southampton have played out goalless draws in their last two EPL matches. Keeping a clean sheet in two matches may sound an achievement for the Saints. However, it is self-damaging since they have not climbed to their rightful place in the league standings. They will truly be daunted as they hit the road to Etihad Stadium because they know the kind of opposition they have to measure up against.
