Wolves vs Liverpool
English FA Cup
Date: Monday, 7 January 2019
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton).
Wolves and Liverpool are set to drop the curtain on the third round of FA Cup on Monday evening in one of rare Premier League clashes at this stage of the competition. It’s fair to say neither of these two sides can be happy with such early draw.
The hosts are thus in danger of falling at the first obstacle for the second year in a row, following a third round elimination to Swansea City last year. They are having a roller-coaster campaign packed with ups and downs in this term of Premier League.
Nevertheless, the head coach Nuno Espirito Santos can be satisfied to see his men holding the 9th place in the league standings in maiden top flight campaign in six years. Wolves will, however, come into this low on confidence after losing 0-2 to Crystal Palace at the start of the year on Wednesday evening.
Liverpool are probably the most consistent team in this term of the Premier League. They won 17, drew 3 and lost just 1 of 21 league matches and are on the best way to lift so much wanted league silverware. They were on an eight-win thread in all competitions before falling 2-1 to Manchester City in the derby of the season on Thursday night at Etihad.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are still four points clear at the top of the standings and they will be motivated to boost up the confidence by returning to winning ways here against Wolves. Even though Klopp might make some changes to his starting line-up here.
